City News story: Lion Population 25 years after ‘The Lion King’

In response to the modern remake of Disney’s “The Lion King,” I was compelled to produce this story for CityNews. Since the release of the original film, the population of lions, in the last 25 years, has declined at an alarming rate.

The story features interviews from world-renowned wildlife filmmakers who explain what can be done to help lions thrive and remain the king of the beasts!

Rhinos Without Borders

I had the privilege of interviewing the Chief Officer of Rhinos Without Borders. In his story, my guest explains his love for rhinos and what a day-in-the-life is like tracking them. We’ll learn how brave organizations set out to relocate 100 rhinos from high-risk poaching areas in South Africa to the relative safety of Botswana.

CITY NEWS STORY: High water levels spelling trouble for wildlife

I produced a news story for CityTV about the very high water levels that occurred in the late spring of 2017. These floods spelled trouble for some of the creatures in Tommy Thompson Park on the Leslie Street Spit peninsula in Toronto. We explored the issues on how wildlife adapted to this new Waterworld.

GREAT PLAINS FOUNDATION: CHILDREN’S CONSERVATION WORKSHOP

In 2016, I produced this short piece for the Great Plains Conservation Foundation, which operates out of Botswana. It highlighted their annual children's conservation workshop in the village of Gudigwa that borders the renowned Okavango Delta. Its objective was to teach the children the importance of water and bring awareness to the conservation efforts that they can make in their environment. This video illustrates the outreach of the Foundation’s mandate through its sustainable tourism methods which are crucial to protecting Africa's last remaining wilderness areas.

WILD TORONTO: VULTURES IN THE 6

A downtown Toronto office building is the last place you would expect to see a large bird like a Turkey Vulture. Every spring, they use this unusual setting as a hang-out spot after migrating from the tropics, before heading back in the fall.

Raccoons in Toronto: Urban Jungle

In 2014, I got the opportunity of a lifetime to work as a camera operator for the National Geographic series “Urban Jungles: Suburbia.” My footage was featured in the segment about the high density of Racoons in Toronto and how they've adapted to urban environments

Wild Toronto: hAUNT OF THE HERONS

Ecologist Gail Fraser monitors the nests of Black-Crowned Night Herons as they raise their chicks in Toronto's Tommy Thompson Park.

WILD TORONTO: CANOPY OF CORMORANTS

During the spring and summer months, Toronto's Tommy Thompson Park is home to one of the largest colonies of double-crested cormorants in North America. Follow ecologist Gail Fraser as she studies and monitors their nesting behaviour.

WILD TORONTO: URBAN WILDERNESS

Just a few minutes outside of Toronto's downtown core lies Tommy Thompson Park. A five-kilometer peninsula that is home to a great diversity of plants and animals.
